I drove my wife to murder

I Drove My Wife to Murder

It was 1979. I was completing a master's degree in counseling and my wife was a registered nurse. It was the best of times in so many ways. At least that is what we thought. We lived at the Jersey shore. The ocean was great the beach was great. My job was great. I worked in Ocean City and my wife worked in Atlantic City. We went out a lot to the casinos and went to New York City almost once a month. Everything thing seemed to be perfect. I had a great job, a beautiful and great wife. I played a lot of softball and even coached Girls' basketball. We had it made in the sight of many people.

My wife had an opportunity to do some part time work, so we decide that it would be a good idea. With the interest rate for housing at around 17% so, it seemed like a good move to help save a down payment for a house. The job was weekends Friday night or Saturday. I would drive her to Atlantic City and drop her off for work. Then I would pick her up after work and go home or spend time in A.C. Everything appeared to be going smoothly. She seemed to enjoy the nursing aspects of the job and I kept busy, so it was all good. I would ask her how work went, and she would respond in a positive manner. The usual, no problems.

Then one night I picked her up she was different. Maybe a little uneasy, even a bit agitated. As we talked, I asked what 's different, she said that she was in a different area in the clinic. And she was with a pathologist who was checking to see if they had all the parts. She worked at an Abortion clinic, and she witnessed something very different that night. I encouraged her that it was okay. You see in college I remember writing a paper on the benefits of abortion as it was only a blob of unidentifiable cells and a woman's right.

There was another thing happening in our lives. The Lord was working on both her and I. He was showing us many things. He was leading us away from nonbelief to belief. But not just belief in God, but a belief in a personal savior Jesus Christ. I whole heartedly believe that because of God's gentle hand of mercy on both of use, we began to change. It was not too long after that night that my wife could no longer work at an abortion clinic. I was changing also. Questions arose, such as how a bunch of unidentifiable cells has little hands and feet. Or why is the doctor looking for parts to make sure he has it all. I realized that not only is this fetus a real live baby, but now I was driving my wife to assist in murdering them.

I know the term murder is rather strong word and can be offensive to some. But the thought process that we both went through led us to no other conclusion. God knows each one of these little unborn babies. There is no question, when you stop a beating human heart, death occurs. But our Lord is full of mercy and grace. He let us see things that changed us drastically and, in a way, led us closer to him. You see God forgives. He has totally forgiven my wife and me for driving her there and encouraging her.

If you have had an abortion or if you are contemplating one, do not listen to what the world says. They do not have your best interest at heart. Turn to God and he will direct your path. He will forgive you and guide you and make you whole. Through this event and others, the Lord used these issues to lead me to accepting Jesus Christ as my personal savior. Now both my wife and I are saved by faith Jesus Christ.
